Position Purpose: A Process Engineer will have demonstrated
technical capability to achieve success in a multi-faceted
manufacturing environment. The position demands a mature individual
capable of working within a team on technical/operational projects
that involve a broad range of equipment, materials, and procedural
issues. A Process Engineer will have proven talents in:
written/verbal communications; logical thought processes; project
design and management; working effectively as a member of a team;
and recognizing potential problems and providing means for avoiding
the problems.
Principle Accountabilities
- Perform assignments under a reasonable level of
supervision.
- Perform laboratory testing as required for evaluation of new
materials and products.
- Investigate and recommend equipment and processes for
manufacture of new products.
- Assist in the development and scale-up of new products.
- Support, investigate and provide remedies for manufacturing
process problems.
- As required, establish working relationships with outside
personnel to meet project objectives.
- Maintain a high level of knowledge and understanding of current
products, processes, equipment, and procedures.
- Utilizes engineering tools (FMEA, Control Plans, 5S, etc.) to
support efficient area operations.
- Maintain adequate records and orderly files on all assigned
projects.
- Assist maintenance department with evaluations of equipment
problems and design requirements of all equipment.
- Assist as needed on environmental compliance projects as they
relate to the process function.
- Assist in training of production personnel and creation of
supporting documents.
- Work with operating personnel to reduce waste generation.
- Demonstrates practical problem-solving abilities using
engineering tools.
- Maintains a level of trust and credibility within and between
departments.
- Prioritizes work to focus on important problems/issues.
- Communicates clearly, efficiently, and professionally with
others in the organization.
- Maintains sufficient knowledge of safety and environmental
regulations as they may pertain to work assignments.
- Completes work assignments in a timely manner.
- Willingly provides consultative services to other departments
as needed.
- Monitors and evaluates processes for environmental regulations
compliance. Essential Skills and Experience
- Minimum B.S. Engineering, Chemistry or Physical Sciences
curriculum. Strong preference given to Chemical Engineering degree.
Will consider a non-degreed candidate with a minimum of five years
practical experience in related manufacturing field and a proven
history of accomplishments and increasing job
responsibilities.
- Excellent problem-solving capability, initiative and both
verbal and written communication skills.
- Creative mindset with attention to detail of process, product
and material design.
- Solid understanding of machining/fabrication and fluid systems
- fans, pumps, pneumatics & hydraulics.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel,
PowerPoint and Project).
- Good organizational skills including ability to prioritize and
meet deadlines.
- Experience with paper or web converting, coating and/or
packaging is desired.
- Experience in plastic film processing experience is a
plus.
