Job Description:
Position Summary This position will support Electric
Distribution Systems ( EDS ) in the distribution of electricity to
the various buildings on the University campus and the UNC
Hospitals. This position will work directly under the guidance of
skilled power technicians. While under supervision, this position
will have the opportunity to engage in preventive maintenance
activities for both underground and overhead distribution systems
and assist high voltage specialists in maintenance and/or replacing
electrical equipment such as transformers, switches, light poles
and more. Required Qualifications, Competencies, And Experience
Ability to follow directions. Basic knowledge/experience of
electricity (commercial and/or residential) Demonstrated mechanical
ability in using tools (hand tools, etc.) and/or power equipment
(forklift, etc.) Valid NC Driver’s License – opportunity to acquire
NC Commercial Drivers License is possible for qualified candidates.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, And Experience Ability to
read and interpret complex schematic drawings/blueprints on systems
and/or equipment. Ability to follow directions Demonstrated
knowledge/experience of the electrical trade (commercial and/or
residential) Ability to use tools specific to the electrical trade
Ability to demonstrate working knowledge of the methods, practices,
tools, and materials used in maintenance of commercial and/or
residential electrical systems. Work Schedule Monday – Friday, 7:00
AM – 3:30 PM Some overtime may be required (nights, weekends and/or
holidays) should business needs dictate.
