Job Description:

Registered Nurses are in high demand to provide direct patient care in a fast-paced Behavioral Health setting. This role requires a strong foundation in nursing principles and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.





**Job Description:**

* Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
* Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care treatments.
* Conducts initial physiological needs assessment on patients upon admission and performs shift psychosocial needs assessment during each shift.
* Documents patient care given.
* Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
* Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
* Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
* Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
* Prepares, administers, assesses, and documents the effectiveness of medication administration.
* Evaluates patient response to all procedures and interventions carried out both on a physical and psychological basis.
* Assesses patient's psychological response to hospitalization and diagnosis each shift.
* Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

**Requirements:**

* Registered Nurse from the Virginia Board of Nursing or compact State required
* Bachelor's degree preferred
* Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision
* Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association required
