Job Title: Operating Room NurseWe are seeking a skilled and compassionate Operating Room Nurse to join our team at Sovah Health - Martinsville.About the Role:

• Provide direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
• Perform plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
• Document patient care given.
• Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Detect change in patient status, report to appropriate health care team member, and utilize resources as dictated by the acuity.
• Assign priorities to patient's problems with highest priority given to problems that are most urgent and critical.
• Assist patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborate as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
• Evaluate learning needs of patient and/or family and provide patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Work as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
• Exhibit high level of AORN standards.
• Assist and anticipate surgeon's needs.
• Monitor sterile field and report break in sterile technique.
• Report and document any variances by filling out QCC reports accurately and completely.

    • Must be licensed in the State of Virginia or compact state as a Registered Nurse.
    • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
    • Previous experience in acute care hospital setting preferred.
    • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
    • Verbal ability to present information and ideas related to nursing theory and practice.
    • Ability to accept responsibility and accountability to prescribe, delegate, and coordinate nursing care provided on assigned units as required with leadership qualities.
