Job Title: RN - CVICU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 1 year of CVICU experience License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, CCRN (preferred) Must-Have: Experience in post-cardiac assessment, circulatory support, titration of vasoactive and antiarrhythmic medication, interpretation of cardiac waveforms, and hemodynamic monitoring Description: The RN - CVICU will work in a high-acuity and fast-paced environment. This unit provides care for surgical and medical cardiac patients. Common diagnoses include post-operative care for CABG, valve replacement, and thoracic aneurysms. Patient ratios are RN: 1:2 and CNA: 1:20. The RN will have support from CNAs for activities of daily living, vital signs, and transport. A charge nurse will often be assigned. Phlebotomy services are available 24/7. The unit is equipped with advanced technology, including EMR and IV pumps. Strong assessment skills and familiarity with cardiac support devices are necessary.
