BCLS, NIH Must-Have: Cardiac telemetry experience is required. IV
start and telemetry skills are necessary. Experience in
interpretation and management of dysrhythmias is essential.
Description: RTO after booking is not allowed. Any call-offs or
additional RTO on the unit could possibly result in a cancellation.
Unit will accept contracts for 13 weeks. The nurse-to-patient ratio
is 1:6. The average daily census is 23. Floating to other units is
required. 8 weekend shifts are necessary. Patients may present with
cardiac arrhythmias, myocardial infarction, acute coronary
syndrome, uncontrolled diabetes, DKA, heart failure, post heart
catheterization, post permanent pacemaker, and post implantable
cardioverter-defibrillator. Nurses must handle cardiac drips but
will not titrate blood pressure. Teamwork is essential as there are
no charge nurses in the unit. Quality nurses are needed who can
manage the same ratios as other units. EKG testing is required
before starting in this specialty. The unit uses specific systems
for medication management and electronic records. Navy or white
scrubs are required.
