Position Description Reporting to the Assistant Dean, Graduate Nursing Programs (ADGNP), the Clinical Coordinator will work in a fast-paced environment, interfacing with multiple clinical sites and preceptors to coordinate clinical placements for Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) students, and maintain all associated data. The position is an Exempt full-time appointment. The successful candidate will be a registered nurse with excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to develop strong professional relationships with busy clinical agencies. Qualifications Registered nurse with eligibility for licensure in Virginia required. BSN required, and MSN strongly preferred. -- A minimum of five years of practice experience as an RN -- Requires an attention to detail and the ability to effectively organize and retrieve information -- Teaching experience preferred -- Ability to work effectively under pressure and to meet frequent urgent deadlines -- Ability to deal effectively with change and disruption -- Ability to develop a professional rapport and trust with representatives of busy clinical agencies -- Ability to develop and complete work without direct supervision -- Ability to perform within legal and ethical boundaries. -- Ability to effectively -- Strong oral and written communication skills -- Above-average skills related to organization, attention to detail and effective time-management -- Fluent in English -- Excellent computer skills, including database management Primary Responsibilities -- Secures, schedules and coordinates all precepted clinical rotations for all MSN students -- Maintains a positive presence in the healthcare arena in Virginia and the surrounding areas -- Maintains relevant records on MSN students and preceptors and forwards to clinical agencies, as needed -- Maintains all files and data related to precepted clinical assignments -- Schedules all make-up precepted clinical rotations for MSN students -- Identifies and facilitates the addition of new clinical agency sites -- Maintains all clinical agency contractual agreements -- Facilitates the development of contracts with new clinical sites according to Averett established guidelines -- Prepares, schedules and provides clinical orientation for all MSN students, preceptors and faculty -- Attends all required meetings at clinical agencies -- Conducts annual site visits and evaluations of all clinical sites -- Oversees the clinical evaluation process, which includes the site, the MSN clinical preceptors and the MSN students -- Serves as a resource and support person for MSN students and clinical preceptors -- Gathers and maintains MSN data that are required for annual reports, grants, accreditation, and similar needs -- Provides input into the evaluation process of MSN students and clinical preceptors -- Manages MSN student clinical issues in collaboration with the ADGNP -- Facilitates the annual recognition of clinical preceptors and friends of the MSN degree program -- Works as needed with the Assistant Dean to identify potential clinical preceptors and MSN faculty -- Attends community events as needed -- Attends Graduate Program faculty meetings as requested -- Assists ADGNP and faculty with planning and delivery of onsite residencies -- Attends residencies for MSN students -- Other duties as assigned PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The duties of this position require performance of the following activities and work in the described environment, with or without reasonable accommodations. -- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, stand;
