Description 39- bed patient care department with 21 telemetry beds
that provides care primarily to medical-surgical patients, 7 days a
week, 24 hours a day. The department consists of 39 private rooms.
A central nursing station that contains a central cardiac
monitoring station and patient call system. The cardiac monitoring
is conducted by the Central Telemetry Unit. There are 8 Camera beds
on the unit to monitor high risk for falls patient.
Population/Clients Served Populations served will be
hemodynamically stable Medical Surgical patients 18 years and older
with diverse diagnoses. High volume patients including: Altered
Mental Status, Delirium, Community Acquired Pneumonia, Colitis,
Acute & Chronic Pain Syndrome, Dehydration, Nausea, Vomiting,
Clostridium Difficile Diarrhea Acute Pyelonephritis, UTI, Acute
Pancreatitis, and Hepatic Encephalopathy. Low volume: GI Bleeds,
Anemia, DKA, New Onset Diabetes, Sickle Cell, Knee Replacement,
Hypotension/Hypertension, Cellulitis, Schizophrenia, Chronic Renal
Failure, Seizure Disorder, Hypoxia, Acute Respiratory Distress, and
Chest Pain. The department is a designated Hospitalist Unit that
has a designated Physician 7days a week from 7am to 7pm .
Currently, this department has the capability to monitor 21
telemetry beds on 5West. Patients with a primary cardiac diagnosis
must be hemodynamically stable. Patients will be screened by the
Charge Nurse/Department Leadership to assure telemetry monitoring
of stable medical-surgical patients
