SOVAH Health - DanvillePerforms receptionist, registration, and clerical duties associated with Emergency Department patients. Greets patients, obtains demographic and financial information, obtains necessary signatures and collects payment from patient. Assists in all phases of the registration processes. Ensures that all necessary demographic, billing, and clinical information is obtained and entered in the registration system with timeliness and accuracy.Distributes and explains forms, documents, and educational handouts to patients or family members.Meets with patient or patient's caregiver before or after admission to exchange necessary information and documentation.Provides explanation of process and addresses concerns and questions.Communicates with admitting physician's office, nursing unit staff, and/or other appropriate personnel regarding admission to exchange necessary information and determine placement.Verifies insurance benefits and obtains precertification/authorization as necessary.Determines and accepts required payments, including co-pays and deductibles, or refers to financial counselors for follow up.Calculates patient financial obligation and obtain and verifies the accuracy of authorization when required.Abides by EMTALA regulations, completes registration functions in collaboration with applicable rules and regulations. Able to capture applicable information in a potentially stressful environment and collection of monies at the patient's bedside.Abides by EMTALA regulations, completes registration functions in collaboration with applicable rules and regulations. All after hours, weekends and holiday patient access functions are routed to the Emergency Department Registration Team to complete. All other area functions include but are not limited to: Outpatient & Surgical Registrations, Financial Counseling, Cashier Functions, Medical Outpatients and Direct Admissions (Medical, Psychiatry, and Inpatient Rehab.)
